ARLINGTON, Texas -- The UT Arlington men's basketball program looks to continue its rise to national prominence this season with a competitive schedule that includes a dozen games against teams that qualified for the postseason in 2016.

With all five starters and 11 letterwinners returning, UTA is projected by most analysts to be one of the top mid-major programs in the country. The Mavericks play a total of 31 regular season games against teams from 13 different conferences, including traditional powers such as the Big Ten, Big 12 and Southeastern Conferences.

"Our guys gained a lot of confidence last season from having success against some very good programs," said Scott Cross, in his 11th season as UTA's head coach. "By playing a variety of types of programs, both at home and on the road, we should be able to develop our veteran team into one that will compete for a Sun Belt title and a berth into the NCAA Tournament."

Season tickets in the state-of-the-art College Park Center are currently on sale through the College Park Center box office for as low as $99, which includes a baseline section seat at every men and women's basketball home game. Courtside seats are available for $150 each. Center court ($200), floor level ($350) and club ($350) sections are also offered. Seating locations are based on donation levels to the Maverick Club, which benefits student-athletes at UT Arlington.

After opening its season at home in their traditional homecoming game on Saturday, Nov. 12 against 2016 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) qualifier Texas Southern, the Mavericks hit the road for three games in five days at Minnesota, Florida Gulf Coast and Arkansas.

Following a pair of home games against St. Francis (Ill.) and Mount St. Mary's, UTA returns to the road for six of its next seven games to conclude its non-conference schedule. The Mavericks play at Fordham, Texas, North Texas, Saint Mary's, Bradley and Loyola Marymount.

"We've always maintained that we would test ourselves against some of the best programs in the nation," said Cross, the program's all-time leader in victories. 'By doing that, we have a chance to build an attractive profile that would merit favorable consideration for an at-large postseason invitation. In addition, as we found last season, having success against those programs can also provide a great deal of exposure for our program and our players."

UTA opens its fourth season of competition in the Sun Belt Conference with a New Year's Eve contest against the league's newest member, Coastal Carolina, in College Park Center. On Jan. 2, the Mavericks host Appalachian State before playing three straight road games at Texas State, Troy and South Alabama. The team culminates its league home schedule on Feb. 27 against Troy then plays regular season finale at Louisiana on March 4.

The annual Sun Belt Championships are scheduled for March 8-12 at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, La. The 2017 championship event will feature all 12 of the league's men and women's teams with the men's final being televised live on ESPN.

UTA is coming off one of its most successful seasons in program history, tying a program record for total victories (24) and earning a national ratings percentage index (RPI) as high as 27th in the country. The Mavericks earned national recognition with victories at Ohio State and Memphis en route to a 14-3 start, the best in program history.

The Mavericks led the nation in rebounding, finished sixth in 3-point field goal attempts and posted four win streaks of at least four games -- another program first.
