ARLINGTON, Texas...Kimberli Merrill has signed a National Letter of Intent to study and play volleyball at The Unviersity of Texas at Arlington beginning in the fall, 2003 semester, according to UTA head coach Janine Smith. Merrilll is currently a senior at Marcus High School.
Merrill is a 5'11" setter for a very successful Marcus squad that won the 6-5 A District championship her sophomore and junior seasons, and was the 7-5 A co-champion her senior season. As a senior, Merrill was honored as her teams most valuable player, as well as being named to the all-area team by the Fort Worth Star Telegram and the Dallas Morning News. A first team all-state selection her senior season, Merrill also excelled in the classroom earning all-state academic honors her junior and senior years.
The Flower Mound native joins a Texas-Arlington volleyball squad that finished 2002 as the Southland Conference regular season champions and SLC tournament champions, while making its second consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament.
