Men's Cross Country

HARRIERS COMPETE IN COLLEGE STATION

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The UTA men's and women's cross country teams return after a two-week layoff to compete in the 2003 Texas A&M Cross Country Invitational at the University Golf Course here.

Texas A&M will host a field that includes: Stephen F. Austin, Abilene Christian, Prairie View A&M, Southern Arkansas, Texas A&M-Commerce, SMU, TCU. Texas State., Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Tarleton State, Texas-San Antonio, Northwood, Sam Houston State, Lamar, Rice (women only), Texas (men only), St. Mary's (women only), Texas A&M-Kingsville (women only) and UTA.

The men's 8,000-meter race begins at 8:30 a.m. and the women's 6,000-meter run at 9 a.m.

UTA will have a full squad with the return of seniors Rebecca Johansson and Kajsa Haglund and Lisa Haglund. Both Johansson and Kajsa Haglund compete in an international meet in Sweden the weekend of the season-opening Movin' Mavs Invitational Sept. 6 at Vandergriff Park.

Jacob Cedertun and Ivorita Taylor were named to the SLC Athlete of the Week Honor Roll following the opener. Taylor finished 16th at the Movin' Mavs Invitational with a time of 12-minutes in the two-mile race while Cedertun was seventh with a 21:19 in the four-mile university men's race.

The Southland Conference Cross Country Championships are Nov. 3 in Huntsville, Texas.
