ARLINGTON, Texas - Six Mavericks finished with double digit digs as The University of Texas at Arlington swept Southeastern Louisiana, 30-12, 30-18, 30-28, Saturday evening in Southland Conference volleyball action. The Mavericks improve to 23-6 overall, 15-5 in the league and will now focus on next week's SLC tournament in Beaumont.
UTA hit .323 collectively while holding the Lady Lions to just a .107 attack percentage. The Mavericks recorded 51 kills to that of Southeastern's 38 and out-dug the Lions, 77-60.
Ashley Van Antwerp led the way with a team-best 16 kills and 17 digs while Caley Smith and Melissa Marek were next in line with nine kills each. Joining Van Antwerp in double figures defensively was Morgan Rogers (16), Smith (13), Torie Dacus (10), Heather Dunn (10) and Ashley Smith (10).
Leading the Lady Lions defensive charge was Brittany Gaydos with 18 digs.
The Mavericks will head to Beaumont as the third seed in the SLC postseason tournament and face off with the sixth seed on Friday at 4:30 p.m. at the Montagne Center on the campus of Lamar University.
