DENTON, Texas - Junior distance runner Daniel Noah raced through the Eagle Point Cross-Country Course in 27-minutes, 01-seconds to claim tenth place at the Mean Green Opener here Sept. 11.
Noah was the only Mav runner in the top 10 for UTA. Former prep state champion Jody Broccoli-Hickey (The Woodlands) and freshman Sean Cross recorded top 20 finishes in their collegiate debut. Hickey ran the 8K course in 27:36 and Cross in 28:00.
"I thought some of our young runners did a good job for their first meet," said UTA Head Track and Field and Cross Country Coach John Sauerhage. "We've got a lot of work to do, but we can build and get better from the effort I saw (today)."
UTA took third place in the four-team field. The Mavericks, with 80 points, trailed winner meet Baylor (16) and host North Texas (54). TCU finished fourth with 92 points.
Other UTA results include: Freshman Chris Miller in 24th/28:31, Josh Smith in 25th/28:46, Hunter Garner 29th/29:04 and Kevin Opp 33rd/29:25.
