WACO, Texas - Daniel Noah (Hitchcock, Texas) and Sean Cross (Frisco, Texas) were the top finishing Mavericks squad with a 39:09.00 for eighth place over the six-kilometer course at the 2004 Bear Relays run at the Baylor Intramural fields complex Friday night. In the women's division, junior Courtney Carter (Dallas, Texas) and junior transfer Heather Isbell (Keller, Texas/TCU) combined to run a time of 30-minutes, 18-seconds to turn in the top UTA time. The unique format has two runners from each team combine their times on the two-mile course. Freshmen Jodi Hulett (Arlington, Texas) and Shannon Pardue (Arlington, Texas) finished ninth with a 30:32.00 and Caranda Mose (Pearland, Texas) and Nicole Noel (Lewisville, Texas) finished tenth with a 30:41.00. "I thought we got a chance to see where we need work," said UTA Head Cross Country Coach John Sauerhage. "We had some freshman that performed well for their first collegiate meet and we need to work hard to get ready for conference." The men's and women's cross country teams will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 11, when the Mavericks travel to Denton, Texas, for the Mean Green Opener hosted by North Texas. - utamavs.com -
