Final results


UTA used a final round 292 to tie Southland Conference member Southeastern Louisiana for third place at the 2005 Baylor Invitational played at the Bear Ridge Golf Course here Tuesday.
Senior Jeff Murray (Odessa, Texas) carved out a final round 70 over the 7,233-yard, par-72 course to lead the Mavericks with a 54-hole total of 216 (74-72-70). It is Murray's fifth top 10 finish of his career and equals his lowest tournament score of his career, equaling the last season's score at the Squire Creek Intercollegiate in Ruston, La.
"We tried to grind out a score today," said head coach Jay Rees. "We just weren't able to get much going. We have to continue to try and get better each week."
Host Baylor saved the best for last with a final round nine-under-par 279 to come-from-behind to defeat Lamar 862-866. The Baylor Green team finished with an 879 but their scores are not counted on the team standings.
Sophomore Zack Reeves (Arlington, Texas), ranked 63rd in the nation in this week's rating by golfweek.com, had a final day 73 for a 54-hole total of 221 to tie for 19th place.
Senior Tyrone Mordt (Johannesburg, South Africa) had his worst round of the young season with a seven-over-par 79. Junior Ryan Zamorano (Dallas, Texas) finished with a 75 and sophomore Michael Douthit (Palestine, Texas) finished with a 74.
Individually, Bryan Baker (Whitehouse, Texas) tied for 53rd (79-78-72=229) and Chris Myers finished at 236 (85-75-76).
UTA returns to action next week at the Squire Creek Intercollegiate Tournament.
NOTES: The third place finish is the second of the season for the Mavericks and the 12th top four finish since the beginning of the 2004-05 season.
