ARLINGTON, Texas - Former Arlington Lamar High School Jeremy Wariner returned to the place where he won a district championship.

Since then, he has won a gold medal in last year's Olympiad in Athens, Greece and his return to Maverick Stadium lived up to the billing.

Wariner ran the fourth fastest 200-meter time in the world this year with a 20.52 to win his heat at the Arlington Invitational Track and Field Meet here Saturday night.

Wariner highlighted a day where four meet and stadium records fell on a pristine day where temperature reached the 70s and winds stayed clam. In all, 30 athletes or relay teams qualified for the NCAA Midwest Regionals in Norman, Okla., May 27-28.

TCU's Jackson Langat ran a 1:46.84 to break the stadium record of 1:46.85 set by former SMU standout Sammie Koskei in 1983 and Freddie Williams of Abilene Christian in 1984. It was the oldest record on the books at Maverick Stadium.

Baylor won the women's 400-meter relay with a record time of 44.48 and the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:37.35 set by the Lady Bears last year.

Liber Chaufreitag, competing unattached, shattered the men's hammer record with a throw of 265-feet, three-inches. His toss bested the old record of 242-11 set by Andra Haklits in 2000.

UTA's Levi Armstrong (Alvin, Texas) won the pole vault with a vault of 4.90 meters (16-00.75).

Freshman distance runner Jodi Hulett (Arlington, Texas) won her first try at the women?s 5,000 meters with the second best Southland Conference time this spring, 17:58.63.

Maverick sprinter Quinchun Carey (Fort Worth, Texas) won the triple jump with a leap of 14.43 meters (48-00.00).

UTA returns to action next weekend at the 77th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, April 6-9.
