A week long trip to Hawaii, along with contests against defending national champion Texas and fellow College World Series participant Baylor highlight the 2006 Texas-Arlington baseball schedule released by fifth-year head coach Jeff Curtis on Friday.

"Once again we feel our non-conference schedule is one of the toughest in country," said Curtis. "We are able to play a quality home schedule so it gives our fans a chance to see some high quality baseball."

The season begins on Feb. 10 as the Mavs will hit the road for a three-game series at Louisiana Tech. UTA will remain on the road as they head to Baylor on Feb. 14 for a 6 p.m. showdown. The Mavs will open up their home season on Feb. 17 as they Illinois State on the first day of the UTA Invitational at Clay Gould Ballpark. UTA will also take on Kansas State and Oral Roberts.

UTA will host Texas A&M on Feb. 21 before heading to tournaments in Midland (Feb. 23-25) and Hawaii (Feb. 28-Mar. 4) . In Midland, the Mavs will face ORU, Texas Tech and Dallas Baptist. UTA will be making their first trip to the island to face Hawaii, Arkansas and Washington in a round robin before the semifinals and finals.

The Mavs will then return home to play six games in an eight-day span that includes the opening weekend of Southland Conference play. The home stand begins with a game against BU on March 7, followed by the first-ever meeting with North Carolina-Asheville on March 8. The Mavs open up SLC play on March 10-12 against defending regular season champion Northwestern State. UTA closes out the home stand with a contest against Oklahoma on March 14.

The month of March concludes with the Mavs playing two of their next three SLC series' on the road. UTA will travel to take on Louisiana-Monroe on March 17-19 before returning home to take on Nicholls State on March 24-26. Stephen F. Austin returns baseball this season and will host the Mavs on March 31-April 2 in Nacogdoches.

The Lamar Cardinals make a trip to Clay Gould Ballpark on April 7-9 before the Mavs head to Austin on the 11th to take on Texas. After a road SLC series at McNeese State, the Mavs will play their second team from the state of Hawaii as they take on Hawaii-Hilo on April18-19. The two contests against the Vulcans begins the Mavs second six-game home stand of the season as UTA takes on Texas-San Antonio (April 21-23) and local rival TCU (April 25).

The final two conference series of the season will have the Mavs hosting Sam Houston State (May 5-7) and heading to Texas State (May 12-14). Four games in the Metroplex close out the regular season as the Mavs take on TCU in Fort Worth on May 16 and Dallas Baptist in Dallas on May 18 before hosting DBU on May 19-20. The SLC Tournament will be played on May 24-27 in Beaumont.
