LUBBOCK, Texas - Senior sprinter Ellen Garrison (St. Louis, Mo.) blazed to a personal-best time of 7.11 seconds in the 55 meters to capture her first win as a Maverick at the Wes Kittley Invitational here Saturday.
Senior Ivorita Taylor (St. Elizabeth, Jamiaca) won the 800 meters with a season-best time of 2:17.61. Sophomore Carranda Mose had a personal-best time of 2:22.19 for fourth place and Nicole Noel finished seventh wth a 2:30.60.
In the pole vault, Lacey Moore (Greant Bend, Kan.) matched her season-opening effort of 11-05.75 she recorded at the Houston Indoor Opener last week to place second. Erin Cluiss (Forney, Texas) and Vanessa Maida (Abilene, texas) tied for foufrth with vaults of 3.35 meters or 10-11.75.
Junior Linda Rosema (Azle, Texas) finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 14.61 meters or 47-feet, 11.25-inches.
The team will stay in Lubbock for the Texas Tech Invitational on Saturday. Results will be available late Saturday on utamavs.com.
