UT Arlington junior Jodi Hulett (Arlington, Texas) clocked a time for 21-minutes, 52-seconds for third place at the 2006 Southland Conference Cross Country Championships at the Pecan Acres Park here Friday.

Hulett's finish led the Mavs to a third-place team finish with 99 total points. She earned all-conference honors for the third consecutive season. Hulett's third-place finish was the best by a Maverick since Frida Rosenburg won the conference title in 1995.

"The women competed very well," said UT Arlington Head Cross Country Coach John Sauerhage said. "Carranda Mose had a great race and Jodi's third-place finish was just outstanding. We were one person short of second place, but I am happy with the way we competed."

The women's team ran without sophomore Caroline Erlington (Angelholm, Sweden), an all-SLC runner a year ago with an eighth-place finish, after she suffered an injury two weeks ago at the Chili Pepper Invitational.

Junior Carranda Mose (Pearland, Texas) just missed all conference honors with a 12th-place finish with a time of 23:23. Freshman Ida Landgraff (Oslo, Norway) finished 14th with a 23:35. Senior Ivorita Taylor (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) was 27th with a 24:04, Christina Mose (Pearland, Texas) finished 44th with a time of 24:57 and Jessica Collins (Houston, Texas) was 76th with a 29:22.

Lamar won its second consecutive title with 46 points. The rest of the field was led by Stephen F. Austin (73), UT Arlington (99), Texas State (106), Texas-San Antonio (139), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (143), Central Arkansas (166), Sam Houston State (170), Northwestern State (216), Southeastern Louisiana (233), McNeese State (335) and Nicholls State (336).

Lamar's Clerc Koenck (21:35) and Renee Graham (21:41) finished 1-2 to lead the Cardinals to the team title.

The team will compete at the NCAA South Central Regional, November 11, at the Bear Run Golf Course layout in Waco, Texas. - utamavs.com -
