The UT-Arlington men's golf team fired a final round 287 to tie for the low round of the day and claim fifth place at the All-American Golf Classic here Tuesday.
Host Houston won the 54-hole event played on the par-72, 7,220-yard Tradition course at the Cypresswood Golf Club. The Cougars put together rounds of 284, 282 and 287 for an 853 to defeat second-place Colorado's 866.
Middle Tennessee State (875) was third followed by Kansas (877), UT-Arlington (879), Memphis (884), Southeastern Louisiana (885), Louisiana-Lafayette (886), Jacksonville State (899), North Texas (910), Louisiana Tech (912), Arkansas-Little Rock (924) and Wyoming (928).
Sophomore Zack Reeves and junior Ryan Zamorano were among four golfers to shoot a 69 on Teusday's round. Reeves tied for 15th place with a three-round total of 219.
Junior Michael Douthit had a 73 to go with his rounds of 73 and 71 on Monday for a 217 and tied for 10th place. Zamorano tied for 20th with a 221 (75-77-69).
Senior Tyrone Mordt tied for 35th with rounds of 77, 74 and 76 (227). Junior Marc Campbell finished the tournament with a 75,74 and 79 (228).
UTA will return to action March 17-18 at the Border Olympics In Laredo, Texas.
