DENTON, Texas - UT Arlington junior pole vaulter Vanessa Maida cleared a height of 3.50 meters (11-feet, 5.75-inches) for a third-place finish at the Brook/North Texas Spring Classic at Fouts Field here Saturday.
Sandwiched between the Texas Relays and the TCU Relays, the North Texas Spring Classic featured teams from TCU, Baylor, Arkansas State, Texas and Abilene Christian. Gusty winds curbed the times and marks Saturday.
Senior sprinter Ellen Garrison placed fourth in the women's 200 meters with a 24.01 and fifth in the 100 meters with an 11.71.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Latasha Watson, Kourtnee Jones, Kim Hargers and Ellen Garrison finished second to TCU with a time of 46.68.
Tara Burns placed second in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.90 meters (19-04.25).
Junior thrower Linda Rosema finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 140-01 and sixth in the shot put with a put of 12.73 meters (41-09.25).
