DENTON, Texas - UT Arlington senior Mandy McGee captured the women's 400-meter hurdle event with a time of 1-minute, 03.29-seconds and junior thrower Linda Rosema threw the hammer 47.76 meters (156-feet-08) for the Mavericks at the Jason's Deli North Texas Twilight Meet at Fouts Field April 27 here.
Rosema's throw nears her personal best mark of 162-00 during the 2005 outdoor season. She placed 11th in the discus with a throw of 40.46 meters (132-09). Rosema's put of 12.78 meters (41-11.25) earned her eighth place in the shot put.
In the long jump, sophomore Angela Gonzales placed third with a leap of 5.87 meters (19-03) and Tara Burns tied for fourth with a leap of 5-83m (19-0).
Kymbra Lovan was eighth in the triple jump (11.52 meters/37-0) and freshman Stacey Bennett took eighth in the high jump (1.60 meters/5-03).
Andrea Hill scored points in both the 100-meter hurdles (eight/14.90) and the 400-meter hurdles (sixth/1:06.76).
In the pole vault, Lacey Moore tied for fifth with a vault of 3.50 meters (11-05.75) and Vanessa Maida finished seventh with the same height.
Kristina Bird took fifth in the women's 800 meters with a 2:19.18.
Junior Shana Rash, slowed by injuries this season, ran a 12.45 in the 100 meters in her first meet of the spring. Latasha Watson had a 12.65 in the women's 100 meter prelins.
At the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, senior sprinter Ellen Garrison ran a 12.25 in the prelins of the women's 100 meters. She was also the anchor leg of the 4x100-meter relay that turned in a 46.00 and the 4x200-meter relay group that finished inth with a time of 1:38.10.
Both relays consisted of Kimberly Hargers, Chelsea Huddleston, Kourntee Jones and Garrison.
Jones ran a 12.42 in the 100-meter prelims.
Saturday, the distance runners will compete at the Rice Twilight Meet in Houston. Among those expected to compete are sophomore Jodi Hulett and senior Heather Isbell.
