CLEVELAND, Ohio - The UT Arlington sophomore Zack Reeves' birdie on the final hole lifted the Mavericks into a tie for 16th place with Xavier at the 2006 NCAA Division I Men's Central Regionals Tournament Saturday afternoon.

The Mavericks carded its best team score of the tournament, a 12-over-par 296, to miss a chance at the NCAA National Championships by 17 stroke.

Senior Tyrone Mordt had the team's sub-par round of the tournament - a one-under-par 70. After dropping three shots to par with bogeys on holes 11, 12 and 13, Mordt responded with three bogeys over the final fives, including back-to-back birdies on holes 17 and 18.

Ryan Zamorano and Jeff Murray finished with rounds of 75, Reeves carded a five-over-par 76 and Michael Douthit finished with a 77.

Oklahoma State won the regional with a 54-hole total of seven-under-par 845. Northwestern (861) finished second with Texas A&M and Georgia Tech tying for third at 867. Lamar (869), Minnesota (874), Oklahoma (877), Clemson (881), Duke (883) and Kentucky (884) rounded the top 10 teams and will advance to the national tournament.
