COLLEGE STATION, Texas - UT Arlington junior Jodi Hulett's time of 18-minutes, 46-seconds took fourth place and was enough to lead the Mavericks to a fourth-place team finish at the Texas A&M Invitational at the Penberth Intramural Complex here Saturday morning.
Host Texas A&M won the 11-team field with 26 points. SMU (48), Texas (113), UT Arlington (123) and Trinity (124) rounded out the top five.
Texas State (141), Sam Houston State (174), Texas-Pan American (176), Prairie View A&M (292), Texas Lutheran (303) and Texas A&M International (349) completed the field.
Hulett (Arlington, Texas), who took ninth place at the UNT Opener in Denton last week, posted the highest finish at a meet since Hulett took fourth at the 2004 Southland Conference Cross Country Championships. Her time over the 5,000-meter course was 42 second fastest than last year on the Penberth layout.
Texas A&M freshman Merideth Snow won the race with an 18:08. Rachel Forish of SMU (18:17) and Sarah Balfour of Texas A&M (18:18) finished ahead of Hulett.
Freshman Ida Landgraff (Oslo, Norway) was 20th with a 19:27. Caroline Erlingson (Angelholm, Sweden), who finished eighth at last year's conference championship, was 31st with a 19:59. Freshman Christina Mose (Pearland, Texas) finished 31st with a 20:17, sister Carranda Mose was 43rd with a 20:27 and senior Ivorita Taylor (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) finished 49th with a 20:41.
The Mavericks will take next weekend off before competing at the OSU Cowboys Jamboree in Stillwater on September 30. The Southland Conference Championships are Oct. 27 in Nacogdoches, Texas.
