FRISCO, Texas - UT Arlington junior runner Jodi Hulett (Arlington, Texas) was named the Co-Southland Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, along with Southeastern Louisiana's Mandy Wallace, after a fourth-place finish at the Texas A&M Invitational Saturday.
Hulett's time of 18-minutes, 46-seconds was enough to lead the Mavericks to a fourth-place team finish on the Penberth Intramural Complex course. Hulett, who took ninth place at the UNT Opener in Denton last week, posted the highest finish at a meet since Hulett took fourth at the 2004 Southland Conference Cross Country Championships. Her time over the 5,000-meter course was 42 seconds faster than last year on the Penberth layout.
It was the first athlete of the week honor since Caroline Erlingson captured the award Sept. 13, 2005, after a ninth-place finish at the UT Arlington Opener. The Stockholm, Sweden native, ran the Vandergriff Park two-mile course in 11:41.
Wallace captured her third first-place finish in as many races as she covered the 5K course in 19:23.99 at the ULL Ragin Cajun Invitational. Wallace helped Southeastern to a second-place finish.
UT Arlington returns to action Sept. 30 at the OSU Cowboys Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla.
