MAV WOMEN FINISH THIRD AT SLC INDOOR

Feb. 17, 2007

HOUSTON, Texas - Freshman sprinter Jasmine Walls and sophomore middle-distance runner Ida Landgraff earned all-Southland Conference honors in two events each to propel the UT Arlington women's track and field team to a third-place finish at the 2007 Southland Conference Indoor Track Championships at the Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse here Saturday afternoon.

UT Arlington collected 98.142 points - their highest point total since the Mavs won the indoor title in 2001 with 142 points.

Walls, a Houston native, earned all-conference honors in her hometown in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dash. She finished third in the 60 meters with a time of 7.73 seconds and took third in the 200 with a 24.90, both personal-best times.

Landgraff, a sophomore from Oslo, Norway, finished in the 800 meters with a time of 2:17.18. She claimed third in the mile run with a season-best 4:55.59 for third place. The time is the third fastest in school history, trailing only Kajsa Haglund's 4:42.51 in 2004 and a 4:40.08 by Kristin Ahlepil in 1998.

The 2006 runner-up, Carranda Mose, finished fourth in the 800 with a 2:18.26.

The Mavs racked up 14.142 points in the pole vault as senior Vanessa Maida took second place with a career-best vault of 12-05.50. Senior Lacey Moore, the defending indoor champion in the pole vault, ended her collegiate career with a third-place finish after a vault of 11-11.75. Redshirt freshman Erin Cluiss finished in a seven-way tie for eighth place with 10-11.75.

Senior Kourtnee Jones just missed winning the 200 meters with a time of 24.73 for second place and all-conference honors. It was the third fastest time in school history.

Senior Linda Rosema was fifth in the shot put with a put of 46-00.50.

Freshman Antonia Hopkins began her collegiate career with fourth place in the 400 meters with a personal-best time of 56.59. The time is just more than one second off the school record of 55.54 set by Chaska Hooper in 1998.

Junior Shana Rash, who has nursed injuries for better than a year, scored points with an eighth-place finish in the 200 meters (25.64) and seventh place in the 60 meters (7.88)
