ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington senior Ivorita Taylor ran a personal-best time of 2-minutes, 08.99-seconds to qualify for the NCAA Regional Track Meet during Saturday's Bobby Lane Arlington Invitational Track and Field Meet at Maverick Stadium.
The time was the fourth fastest in UT Arlington history and is the top time in the Southland Conference this season.
"The weather was nice, I was feeling great all week and it is a home meet. I really wanted to break 2:10 and advance to the regional," said Taylor. "My plan was to go out quickly and push the pace. It was the same strategy I used last year when I ran a 2:08."
Sophomore Stacey Bennett jumped a personal-best 5-08.75 to qualify for the NCAA regional and win the women's high jump.
Taylor and Bennett join Kourtnee Jones as the only Maverick women to qualify for the NCAAs this spring.
Jones placed fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 11.79.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Jones, Kim Hargers, Jasmine Walls and Antonia Hopkins ran a season-best 46.05.
In other action, Minesota's Liz Roehrig broke the stadium record in the heptathlon with 5,621 points, eclipsing the old mark of 5,255 set by Stephen F. Austin's Crystal Chang at the 2006 Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
In the much anticipated race of the night - the men's 200 meters - Arlington native and Olympian Jeremy Wariner finished third in his heat with a time of 21.03 saeconds. Former USC standout Marvin Anderson won the heat with a 20.71. UT Arlington senior Jared Connaughton was fourth with a 21.06.
