COLLEGE STATION Texas - Idilio Campos and Jody Broccoli-Hickey posted top-20 finishes to lead to UT Arlington men's cross country team to a third-place finish at the Texas A&M Invitational here Saturday.
The men's team tallied 102 total points to finish third behind host Texas A&M (42) and SLC-foe Lamar (54). The Mavericks beat Houston (137), TCU (148), Texas-Pan American (154), Sam Houston State (174), Texas A&M-Commerce (181), Prairie View A&M (242), and Texas A&M International (276).
Broccoli-Hickey was the top UT Arlington runner with a 16th-place finish with a time of 25-minutes, 21-seconds over the 8,000-meter course at the A&M intramural fields. Campos was next with a 25:28. Ozie Hood finished 25th with a 25:58, Armando Saldivar was 28th with a 26:01 and Jose Balleza took 31st with a 26:15.
Other UT Arlington individuals include: Zach Zura (44th/26:54), Ivan Pinal (69th/28:01) and Jeff Raines (71th/28:05).
Lamar's Francis Kasagule won the individual title with a 24:11.
The UT Arlington women finished seventh with 188 points. Rice won the women's title with 30 points followed by Texas (62), Texas A&M (71), Lamar (85), Texas-Pan American (180), TCU (181). Sam Houston State was eighth with 212 points, Houston (214), Prairie View A&M (308), Texas A&M-Commerce (336) and Texas A&M International (355) round out the 12-team field.
Rice's Marissa Daniels won the 5K race with a 17:19.
Former A&M Consolidated standout Annabelle Everitt returned to her hometown with a 24th-place finish with 19:09.
Senior Carranda Mose was 40th with a time of 19:34. Caroline Erlingson placed 42nd with a 19:44. Amanda McMahon was 61st with a 20:31 and Christina Mose finished 73rd with a 21:09.
Freshman Esther Abuto placed 77th with a 21:48.
