LAREDO, Texas - - The UT Arlington golf team fired the tournaments low round in the final day and finished fourth in a strong field of participants at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas, on Saturday.

The Mavericks shot a 291-305-286--882 - 18 under par for the three round event. Arkansas won the tournament with a three-round score of 867. UTA finished tied with Baylor and ahead of Houston, Rice, North Texas and fellow Southland Conference member Texas State.

"I'm happy with the way we played overall, especially on that final day," UTA coach Jay Rees said. "I think we've set ourselves up pretty well heading into the final few tournaments of the season."

Zack Reeves and Bobby Massa finished in a tie for 13th place, leading the Mavericks with a 4-over-par 220 each. Zack Fischer was 18th with a 221, and Michael van de Venter was 24th.

Next up is the Diet Pepsi-Shocker Classic in Wichita, Kan., on March 31.
