Carter Plantation Final Results
Springfield, La. - Zack Fischer earned his second career victory, and his first of the 2009-10 season, as he fired a five-under 67 in the final round Tuesday at the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate which also served as a preview tournament of the Southland Conference Tournament next April.
The junior won by two strokes over Ken Looper of New Orleans and Louisiana-Lafayette's Andrew Noto.
Fischer's other career victory came at last year's conference tournament when he was a co-medalist before losing the conference title in a playoff.
"Zack played great all week and this was a great win for him," UTA head coach Jay Rees said. "He has been our number one player all of the fall season and he proved that again over the last two days. Hopefully his performance carries over to the spring, but knowing Zack I think it will."
The Mavericks as a team finished in fifth place with a score of 875. They were second among Southland Conference teams trailing by Central Arkansas who finished in a tie for third with a score of 872.
UTA's Bryce Easton finished in a tie for 17th with a score of 220 while Wes Worster finished in a tie for 21st at 221. Donald Dowie was in a tie for 44th at 228 and Bobby Massa finished 68th at 240. Hunter Brown played as an individual and finished in a tie for 27th at 223.
