COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mavericks were in first place after the first 18 holes at the par 72 Old Hawthorne Club with a team score of 13-under 275 but slipped to a team score of 305 in the second round and are just six strokes behind Kansas State.
Bobby Massa was tied for the individual lead after a first round 67 but shot 82 in round two and stands in a tie for 20th at 149 (5-over). Other Mavericks also struggled in the second round and Michael Van deVenter and Kevin Carrigan each shot 68 in the first round but then shot 77 and 79 respectively in the second round.
Van deVenter is in a tie for seventh and is the top UTA performer. Carrigan is in a tie for 13th. Zack Fischer was the most consistent performer for the Mavs as he went 72-74 on the first day and is at 146 (2-over). Bryce Easton stands in a tie for 29th at seven-over 151.
Tuesday will bring the tournament's final round. It will be the final competitive round for the Mavericks before the conference tournament which starts on April 27.
