Arlington, Texas - Freshman Emily Koenig led the women's team to a 19th place finish at the Chile Pepper Festival after finishing 23rd overall while the men's team took 35th.
Koenig's time of 17:28.29 in the 5K was the highest individual finish by a UTA athlete at the Chile Pepper Festival. Koenig was one of six freshmen to finish in the top 25.
Amanda McMahon crossed the end line in 74th place with a time of 18:08.83 while Jennifer Carey finished 123rd with a time of 18:37.66.
Senior Perri Ford turned in a 180th place finish with a time of 19:02.63 while Esther Abuto crossed the end line in 265th place with a time of 19:39.04.
Marissa Paz turned in a time of 19:46.09 for 285th place.
Heinz Schwarzkopf led the men's team with his 182nd place finish with a time of 32:44.88 while Eric Montou crossed the end line in 199th place with a time of 32:55.38.
Sophomore Cody Widener turned in a time of 33:11.88 for 222nd place while Kevin Vasquez finished 268th with a time of 33:43.40.
Freshman Aaron Purser finished 319th with a time of 34:26.97 while Johnny Camacho recorded a 362th place finish with a time of 35:11.63.
The Mavericks will now set their attention towards the Southland Conference Tournament on Oct. 28th in Beaumont, Texas.
