Arlington, Texas - The Mavericks opened day one of the HEB Baylor Invitational with several Mavericks advancing to round of 16 in singles and quarterfinals in doubles action.
Doubles tandem Monika Hadvigerova and Maria Martinez-Romero advanced to the quarterfinals after earning a first round bye and an 8-6 win over Texas Tech's Lorena Aviles and Sandra Dynka. Tomorrow the duo will go head-to-head against Baylor's Aya Bara and Karolina Filipiak.
Nikola Matovicova and Katarina Mlcochova dropped an 8-0 decision over TCU's Gabby Mastromarino and Shalini Sahoo. With the loss, the duo moved to consolation bracket where they earned first and second round byes.
The teammates will be back in action in the tomorrow when they face Milou Israel and Briggitt Marcovich of Louisiana Lafayette.
Linda Aqvist and Giada D'ortona lost an 8-3 decision to TCU's Maria Babanova and Idunn Hertzberg in the opening round. The tandem advanced to the quarterfinals after earning a pair of byes. The duo continues doubles action tomorrow when they take on Lee's Universities Alyssa Caffey and Elissa Gabb.
Natalia Mayuk and Daiana Negreanu lost an 8-4 decision to Georgia's Alex Anghelescu and Cameron Ellis in the opening round. The teammates begin doubles action tomorrow in the quarterfinal round after earning two byes in the first and second rounds of the consolation bracket.
Mayuk and Negreanu face off against Nadia Lee and Madura Ranganathan of North Texas.

Following doubles play, the Mavs moved to singles action where seven Mavs moved to the round of 32. Aquist, Hadvigerova, and Negreanu all earned first round byes.
Martinez-Romero scored a 6-0, 6-0 win over TCU's Maria Babanova then in the next round faced Elissa Gabb of Lee where she earned a 7-6 (1), 6-2 win. Martinez-Romero will have her work cut out for her as she faces nationally ranked opponent Rebekka Hanle (1) of Rice tomorrow in the round of 16.
Katarina Mlcochova dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to TCU's Idunn Hertzberg and lost 6-1, 6-3 in the consolation bracket to Louisiana Lafayette's Milou Israel.
Aquist won a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Stephanie Williamson of Lee. She continues singles play tomorrow where she will face nationally ranked opponent Katariina Tuohimaa (3) of TCU in the round of 16.
Hadvigerova dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to nationally ranked opponent Ana Guzman (8) of Rice.
Negreanu recorded a big win in the round of 32 against Texas Tech's Kelsey Garland, winning 6-1, 6-4. She advances to the round of 16 where she faces last year's SLC Player of the Year Mariaryeni Gutierrez (5) of Lamar tomorrow at 1 p.m.
Mayuk keep the Mavericks rolling with another big win against Kim Anicete of Rice, 2-6, 6-1 and 10-4. In the next round, Mayuk once again turned in a hard fought performance but fell in a three set decision to nationally ranked opponent Lilly Kimbell (4) of Georgia, 6-0, 4-6 and 10-2.
D'ortona won a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Leslie Cooper of Our Lady of the Lake University then moved to the next round where she suffered a 7-5, 6-4 loss over nationally ranked opponent Irina Paraschiv (7) of North Texas.
Matovicova recorded a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jessica Perez of OLLU but lost a 6-2, 3-6 and 10-5 decision in the round of 16 to Aya Bara of Baylor.
