The UT Arlington women's tennis team continued tennis action in Waco, Texas with day two of the HEB Baylor Invitational.
After a successful first day in doubles action, Monika Hadvigerova and Maria Martinez-Romero started day two on a high note winning the quarterfinals match over Baylor's Aya Bara and Karolina Filipiak, 9-7.
The duo moved to the semifinals where they were two wins away from the winning the championship but suffered a hard fought 8-2 decision to top ranked tandem Federica Denti (2) and Katariina Tuohimaa (2) of TCU.
Nikola Matovicova and Katarina Mlcochova lost an 8-1 decision to Milou Israel and Briggitt Marcovich of Louisiana Lafayette in the quarterfinals.
Linda Aqvist and Giada D'ortona recorded an 8-4 win over Lee Universities Laura Secvise and Stephanie Williamson in the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket.
The duo moved to the semifinals where they suffered an 8-6 loss to Milou Israel and Briggitt Marcovich of Louisiana Lafayette.
Natalia Mayuk and Daiana Negreanu fell 8-6 to UNT's Nadia Lee and Madura Ranganathan in the consolation quarterfinals.
After going undefeated in day one, Martinez-Romero suffered a 6-2, 6-3 loss to nationally ranked opponent Rebekka Hanle (1) of Rice in the quarterfinals.
Aquist once again turned in a tough performance but came up short, falling 3-6, 6-3 and 6-3 to nationally ranked opponent Katariina Tuohimaa (3) of TCU in the round of 16.
Negreanu picked up a huge win in the round of 16 over Lamar's Mariaryeni Gutierrez (5), 6-4, 6-3. With the win, the senior advanced to the quarterfinals where she dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Baylor's Karolina Filipiak.
