Orlando, Fla. - No team wants to go into competition without their best player and that is what happened to the UTA golf team at the Rio Pinar Invitational.

Before Monday's second round, UTA's Zack Fischer had to withdraw due to illness and without their number one player, the Mavericks fell out of contention. The same held true in round three as Fischer was unable to play and UTA finished in 17th at the tournament.

"Zack is an important part of our team and without him it was going to be a struggle," UTA head coach Jay Rees said. "He was pretty sick and there was no way he was able to play today. But we still have a number of tournaments coming up and he'll be back out there."

With just four players Tuesday, Rees was forced to count a pair of 78's and an 80 as the team shot 309 to finish with a team mark of 918.

Bobby Massa was the top individual for the Mavericks after he shot a one-over 73 Tuesday. The senior finished at 10-over 226 and in a tie for 42nd.

Bryce Easton shot 78 Tuesday and finished in a tie for 61st at 229 (+13). Hunter Brown carded an eight-over 80 and finished in a tie for 82nd at 19-over 235 while Wes Worster finished in a tie for 85th at 237 (+21).

Host Central Florida won the tournament at 14-under par while Olafur Loftsson of Charlotte was the individual medalist at 209 (-7).
