Border Olympics First Day Final Results 
Laredo, Texas - After the first 36 holes of the annual Border Olympics, the UTA golf team is in fifth place.
The Mavericks were 10-over par as a team after the first 18 holes as they carded a 298 but they shaved 12 strokes off that total in the after shooting a two-under 286 for an eight-over total of 584. They are 11 strokes behind tournament-leading Lamar.
Zack Fischer, Bryce Easton and Hunter Brown are all in a tie for 16th with two-over scores of 146. Wes Worster recovered from a first round 79 to shot a two-under 70 in round two and is in a tie for 31st.
Defending indivudal champion Bobby Massa struggled on the first day as he carded rounds of 76-78 and is in a tie for 64th at 10-over 154.
Kevin Varrichio is playing as an individual and shot rounds of 80 and 78 to finish in a tie for 75th.
The tournament concludes Saturday with a single 18 hole round.
