ARLINGTON, Texas - WAC play begins as the Mavericks (4-8) travel to Ruston, Louisiana to take on the Bulldogs from Louisiana Tech (3-9) on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 2:00 p.m.

UTA is 4-2 all-time against Louisiana Tech with the last meeting coming in 2010 in Arlington. The Mavs won that contest in straight sets, 25-20, 25-19, and 25-23. UT Arlington is 1-0 on the road against the Bulldogs and is looking to make it 2-0 with this weekend's matchup. Follow the Mavs on Twitter (@UTAMavs) for updates on this match.

The UT Arlington volleyball team went 1-2 at the UT Arlington Hilton Classic this past weekend. The Mavs swept Marist in their opening match, fell to Northwestern State in five hard-fought sets, and lost in Southern Mississippi in straight sets.

Sophomore, outside hitter Taylor Gross was named to the UTA Hilton Classic all-tournament team. This was her first all-tournament nod of the season. Sophomore, outside hitter Amy Davault earned a double-double in kills and digs against both Northwestern State and Southern Mississippi.

The Mavericks then faced TCU in a mid-week match and fell in straight sets to the Big 12 opponent on their home court.

UT Arlington still maintains the eighth slot at 4-8 overall heading into WAC competition. Denver, New Mexico State and UTSA are all tied for first with an overall record of 6-3. Utah State, 5-4, is in fourth, followed by Seattle at 5-5 in fifth and Texas State in sixth at 5-6 overall. San Jose State sits right above the Mavs in the seventh spot with a 4-5 overall record. Louisiana Tech is in ninth at 3-9 and Idaho rounds out the standings at 2-8 overall.

WAC play begins on Sept. 14 and the top eight regular-season finishers will advance to the WAC tournament to take place Nov. 19-21 in San Antonio, Texas.
