PARK CITY, Utah - Cash Wilkerson is tied for ninth and UT Arlington is tied for eighth after the first two rounds of the Utah Ogio Invitational.
Wilkerson shot a 1-over-par 143 at The Jeremy Golf and Country Club. The senior from Spring fired an even-par 71 in the morning's opening round before coming back with a 72 in the afternoon.Wilkerson is six shots back of leader Nic Booth from Southern Utah.
Jake Greenspoon (plus-3 145) carded a 72 in the second round to move up 10 spots into a tie for 16th. Aaron Guanlao (T29), Jake Argento (T43), Zach Galliford (T67) and Jaret Brewer (T67) also competed for UTA.
"I was very proud of the way that Cash Wilkerson, Jake Greenspoon and Aaron Guanlao competed today," UT Arlington coach Jay Rees said. "They gave us some solid scores under some windy and adverse conditions."
The Mavericks had a two-round total of plus-27 737 (369 and 368) on the 7,130-yard course. UTA was ninth after round one before going up a spot into a tie with Southern Utah.
"I expect Jake Argento and Zach Galliford to bounce back along with redshirt freshman Jaret Brewer," Rees added. "All of these guys can go out and shoot par or better tomorrow. We just need to get off to a good start and build on it all day. If we do that we will shoot the low round of the day and that is our goal.
"I do see some good things out there, and we are getting better with new faces in the lineup."
The third and final round is Tuesday. Santa Clara (plus-7) is leading the 13-team tournament.
