ARLINGTON, Texas - After starting off the opening weekend of Sun Belt action with a pair of wins, UT Arlington will take to the road for matches against Arkansas State and Little Rock.

The Mavericks (11-3, 2-0 Sun Belt) will take on the Red Wolves (11-1, 2-0) in Jonesboro, Ark. on Friday night at 6 p.m. before wrapping up the road trip with a noon match against the Trojans (5-6, 1-0) on Sunday.

Wheeler Steps into Leadership Role for Mavericks
Junior Cassidy Wheeler is a silent leader. She won't yell across the volleyball court, but instead stand by her teammates and teach through example. When the scoreboard reflects errors, she will sternly sync her squad back into rhythm. And as UT Arlington's setter, she has the power to touch every play of every match....Read More

Last outing for the Mavericks
UT Arlington improved to 2-0 in Sun Belt Conference play with a four-set win against Georgia State Saturday night at College Park Center.

The Mavericks' defense played a vital role in the victory as UTA out-dug and out-blocked the Panthers. Though both teams recorded 52 kills each, the Mavs swung more consistently at a .203 hitting percentage.

A pair of Georgia State attack errors and a Stacey Koch kill handed UTA the opening set 25-23 before the Panthers stormed back to steal the second. The teams shifted leads throughout the third and forth set, but the Mavericks took advantage of Georgia State's late offensive errors, including a setting error to end the match.

About the Red Wolves
Arkansas State sits atop the Sun Belt conference with a league-best 11-1 overall record paired with a 2-0 mark in conference play. After four wins to open the year, the Red Wolves dropped a five-set match to Missouri in the South Florida Classic. ASU then bounced back with seven straight victories heading into the weekend.

Leading the way for the Red Wolves has been 2014 Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year Markie Schaedig who has averaged 5.28 digs per set this year. Spurring the offensive output for Arkansas State has been Carlisa May, Drew Jones and Darby Graff who each are averaging over three kills per set through 12 matches this season.

About the Trojans
Little Rock's 2015 slate has been filled with difficult opponets as the team squared off with four Power Five Conference schools in the nonconference portion of the schedule. After starting out the season with four straight losses, the Trojans bounced back by winning five out of seven matches, including their Sun Belt opener on the road against Georgia Southern.

After suffering the loss of a pair of 2014 Sun Belt All-Conference first team performers in Edina Begic and Sonja Milanovic, Little Rock has turned to the another 2014 Sun Belt first-team selection in Edina Selimovic. Selimovic has led the Trojans with an average of 3.45 kills per set, while also hitting .385. Making her mark defensively has been Priscila Almeida who has notched 5.00 digs per set through 11 matches this season.

Quotable
"We need to be a little more consistent in our serving and we need to continue to dig more balls. That's the bottom line. I think that those two areas of first contact will help us be a little more consistent." UT Arlington coach Diane Seymour on where her team needs to show improvement

"To win. We want to go to Arkansas and have a better trip than last year. It starts there for us. Also it's important to continue to play better every time we step on the floor. That will get you the end result that you want as long as you continue to get better every single time you step on the court." -Seymour on her expecations for the team

"I'm hoping for two big road wins. Both Arkansas schools are really big and have strong players on the court. For us to be able to deal with all the traveling and come away with two great wins, it would be big for us if we can pull them out." -Koch on what she is looking for out of the team
