Coastal Carolina vs. Arkansas State
Post-Game Quotes

Arkansas State Head Coach David Rehr

Opening statement …
"Coastal Carolina is a really good team. We knew that. We went five last time at their place and we burned a lot of energy in set one, trying to get it where it was. In set two, if we would have finished it, I thought we would have gotten a lot of momentum going into intermission. But them coming back to take that set deflated our bubble a little bit and we couldn't get that pop back."

On the senior class (Markie Schaedig, Mallory Washington, Kelsey Reis, Shelby Holmes and Jessica Heuertz) and what they've meant to the program …
"Everything. They've meant everything to me. They are the group that turned this thing around when we weren't doing so well. We didn't have a good culture and they build our culture. It's five kids that will forever be remembered as helping get us to where we are now."

On underclassmen and how their performances speak to future of program …
"Exactly. That is the thing. We don't want to look past the seniors leaving but with Carlia May, Kenzie Fields, Drew Jones, Jessica Uke, we have a lot of kids that are coming back next year and hopefully we can make a run at it again."

Coastal Carolina Head Coach Jozsef Forman

Opening statement …
"You know, I'm really proud of my team being the champion in the first year and in the Sun Belt Conference. It's amazing and already I know we have a really good team. Arkansas State did a really good job. First set, we couldn't stop them they were playing very fast volleyball, but second set we went to a 5-1 but which we didn't play all season. The setter did an amazing job and finally we are champions."

On overcoming long points to swing your way …
"Arkansas State is a very well-coached team and you know they have a good set that they've taught. We've tried to block hard and the set is not perfect. They start dipping or shutting and they don't do any mistakes, which was hard to pick up in the first set. We were able to slow down and read our block. We had more opportunities to set our balls to our right side player Tahleia Bishop, Leah Hardeman, or Annayka Legros and this was the key point to the game."

On the third set …
"Arkansas State was a little bit tired and at times we had the momentum to push. In the fourth set I saw my players make mistakes very easily we gave them three or four points and you cannot do this against Arkansas State. In the fourth set after 5-5, we were able to get a four or five-point lead, this was very safe to get a win in the fourth set."

On his take away from this tournament to the NCAA Championship …
"Honestly, I did not think about that. I want to rest now and celebrate a little bit. After we are energized we will see who we face in the first round, but definitely in the last two years we have been to North Carolina and will be again. That first time we lost to USC 3-0 and last year Creighton 3-1. We would like to do a little bit more this year."
