During the UTA men's basketball team's December trip to Los Angeles to face Loyola Marymount, the Mavericks were joined by The Sporting News basketball writer Sam Vecenie for an inside look at the program. Vecenie met the team at its hotel early in the morning and spent the day embedded into the program: Meals, meetings, film sessions, in the locker room, huddles, etc. He even joined the Mavs during their postgame meal at Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles in Inglewood.
Today, The Sporting News published Sam's first-person account of that trip that gives an excellent description of the championship program head coach Scott Cross has developed in Arlington.
