Junior defensive specialist Libbie Vickers transferred to UTA after opening her career at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, where she helped the Islanders to their first Southland Conference Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
During her UTA debut season in 2016, Vickers played in 115 sets and ranked fourth on the club with 236 digs. She charted a season-best 23 digs at Texas State and totaled eight matches with double-digit digs.
What is your favorite thing about DFW?
"Being close to family."
Why did you choose UTA?
"I am a transfer and I wanted to be close to home. Plus UTA has a great business school."
Favorite trip in the Sun Belt to make?
"I really am excited to go to Coastal Carolina. I have been to Myrtle Beach before but not for volleyball."
If you had to choose one book to read once a month, what would it be?
"Josh Hamilton's memoir 'Beyond Belief'"
Who is your celebrity crush?
"Ryan Gosling"
If you had a superpower what would it be?
"To be super flexible and stretchy."
Why did you get into volleyball?
"I really looked up to my cousin and my sisters and they ended up playing in college too so I have been able to follow in their footsteps every since. I just want to make everyone proud."
If you had to swap places with one teammate, who would it be?
"I would trade places with Z (Zhanelle Geathers). She's the tallest and as a small hitter I would love to know what that feels like. Definitely Z."
