UT Arlington coach Peejay Brun
announced the 2018 signing class on Wednesday with an exciting group to bolster the Maverick lineup for years to come.
"I'm really excited for this incoming class," Brun said. "They are all extremely competitive and ready to get here. As a recruiter, we were looking for people who were going to add depth and competitiveness to the program and I believe we've found a good mixture."
A part of the group are five from the state of Texas, while also including additions from Oklahoma and Iowa.
Jadyn Erickson (Pleasant Hill, Iowa)
Southeast Polk HS | Tulsa Elite/Iowa Sting | 3B/OF/U
Erickson is a two-time letterwinner for Southeast Polk High School and helped her team to a 23-13 season during her junior year.
Brun on Erickson: "Jadyn will be bringing that needed speed after losing so many seniors this year. She is able to play the hotspot and the outfield. The versatility will be vital down the road.
Lindsey Franklin (Weatherford, Texas)
Weatherford HS | Excel Elite | 1B/DP
Franklin is a three-time academic All-District member and second team All-District selection in 2016. She was Honorable Mention All-District in both her sophomore and junior campaigns.
Brun on Franklin: "Lindsey was a hidden gem in our backyard. She is a powerful hitter that could see playing time in the middle of our line-up."
Anjelica Gonzalez (Lawton, Okla.)
Lawton HS | Gametime 18U Gold | 3B
Gonzalez was selected 6A All-State as well as Offensive Player of the Year. She was All-Conference in three seasons with Lawton, as well as 6A All-District three times. As a multi-sport athlete that earned a letter in soccer, she also was a part of the honor roll in three seasons.
Brun on Gonzalez: "Anjelica comes to us an all-around athlete. She's aggressive on the corner and is a consistent line drive hitter. Her small status can be deceiving as she does have home run power too."
Kenedy Hines (Spring, Texas)
Klein Collins HS | Texas Threat Gold | P/U
Hines was a 2018 TGCA All-State selection and 15-6A District MVP. She was the 2017 15-6A District Pitcher of the Year as well as two-time All-Academic. She earned 2016 15-6A First Team All-District honors as a pitcher. Hines is a member of the National Honor Society.
Brun on Hines: "Kenedy is a great utility player. She can pitch or play the field. Her consistency at the plate will force us to make sure we find her a place to play."
Reagan Hukill (Mansfield, Texas)
Mansfield HS | Team Total Effort | OF
Hukill was the Co-Offensive MVP in her sophomore season in District 4-6A after hitting .466 at the plate and scoring a team-high 36 runs. Hukill helped theTigers to a 31-1 record in 2018 and a perfect 14-0 in district play.
Brun on Hukill: "I met Reagan soon after I started at UTA and I'm so glad that her commitment stayed true to the program. She has a great arm and surprising power at the plate. Look for her to be battling for a starting spot next year."
Abby McKeown (Bellville, Texas)
Bellville HS | Scrap Yard Internationals | P
McKeown helped lead Scrap Yard Internationals to the 2018 Triple Crown National Championships, earning the 2018 U.S. Final Club ranking of the No. 2 team in the nation. She was named her high school team MVP at Bellville High School as well as a first-team selection on the All-District team as a pitcher. McKeown is a member of the National Honor Society.
Brun on McKeown: "Abby comes to us from a strong travel ball program and she is exposed to great competition. That experience is preparing her to be able to compete for us as soon as she gets here. She spins the ball well and is competitive."
Julissa Moreno (Austin, Texas)
Akins HS | Texas Bombers Gold Elite | SS
Moreno was an offensive MVP in 2016 and 2017and second-team All-District selection in 2017 with Akins High School. Moreno helped her team to a 20-12 overall record and 8-2 in district play on the way to a spot in the Regional Tournament.
Brun on Moreno: "Julissa is going to be one of those players that will battle until they very end. She's quick and has a solid bat. She is a shortstop and will add good depth there."
