PALM CITY, Fla. -- The UT Arlington men's golf team concluded play at the prestigious Valspar Collegiate Championships Tuesday at Floridian National Golf Club.

The Mavericks finished the 54-hole tournament in 15th place after posting rounds of 302-292-304 for a 3-round total of 46-over par 898. UTA finished 28 strokes ahead of Lamar and 15 behind 28th ranked Pepperdine.

Top ranked Oklahoma State, one of 13 teams ranked among the top 37 nationally, claimed the team title by five strokes ahead of 23rd ranked Florida State. The Cowboys claimed their seventh team title of the season. No. 2 ranked Texas A&M finished third, while third ranked Georgia Tech and No. 37 Duke rounded out the top five.

OSU sophomore Viktor Hovland claimed medalist honors with a four stroke victory over runner-up John Pak of Florida State. The Oslo, Norway native turned in rounds of 67-65-58 for a 13-under par 200. He was a national all-freshman team selection and finished eighth at the NCAA Championships last season and has a pair of runner-up finishes to his resume this season.

UTA junior Tanner Gore (El Paso, Texas) led the Mavericks with a 57th place finish among the 90-golfer field. He turned in rounds of 77-69-77 to finish at 10-over par 223. Senior Aaron Guanlao (Haslet, Texas) moved up five spots on the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 58th at 11-over par with scores of 74-75-75.

Graduate transfer Nick Thornton (Boerne, Texas) ended-up tied for 69th at 14-over with a 77-73-77 for a 14-over par 227, one stroke ahead of freshman Paul Gonzalez (Waxahachie, Texas). Senior Jake Greenspoon (Houston, Texas) tied for 80th place at 19-over par.

UTA returns to action on April 2-3 at the Bubba Barnett Collegiate at RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark. The team will conclude its regular season April 14-15 at the Boilermaker Invitational. The annual Sun Belt Conference Championships is scheduled for April 16-18 at Raven Golf Course in Miramar Beach, Fla.
