ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington women's basketball team led wire-to-wire in a 63-42 exhibition win over the Midwestern State Mustangs on Wednesday night inside the College Park Center.

The game featured former collegiate teammates from the 1993 Texas Tech National Championship team in MSU Head Coach Noel Johnson and Lady Mavs Head Coach
Krista Gerlich. The exhibition served as an ovarian cancer awareness fundraiser to show support for Coach Johnson as she continues to fight stage 4 ovarian cancer. All proceeds collected will be donated to the Be The Difference Foundation.

Three Lady Mavericks scored in double figures, led by a game-high 11 points from
Aysia Evans.
Emma Halverson chipped in with 10 points and 4 boards, while
Misty Dossey added 10 points, 3 rebounds and a block.
Terryn Milton filled the stat sheet, racking up 9 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals, while
Claire Chastain finished with 7 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Mavs shot just 22.7 percent from long distance and 39.7 percent from the field. UTA outscored the Mustangs 38-20 in the paint and scored 19 points off MSU's turnovers.

UTA scored its first bucket of the season off an inbounds pass under the basket as Chastain gave the Mavs its first lead of the game. Evans finished the quarter by driving the lane before hanging in the air to hit a lefty layup, ending the quarter on a 4-0 run to go up 21-14. Halverson led the way for UTA as she shot a perfect 3-for-3 in the quarter to top the Mavs with 6 points. The Lady Mavericks scored 14 points in the paint while shooting 50 percent from the field.

The Lady Mavs held MSU to just 2 points in the second quarter and finished the period on a 19-2 run to head into the locker room at half with a 36-16 lead.

The Mustangs came out of the locker room with improved shooting as they outscored the Mavs 14-12 in the third quarter, but UTA was still able to hold a 48-29 lead after 30 minutes of action.

UTA outscored the Mustangs 15-12 in the final quarter, as six different Mavs scored a basket in the frame. The Lady Mavericks went on to stretch their lead to as many as 25 points before picking up the 63-42 victory.

UTA opens the 2019-20 campaign at home with a Homecoming matchup vs. Chicago State in game one of a doubleheader with the UTA men (vs. Tulsa) on Nov. 9 at 2:30 p.m., before hitting the road for three straight games (at North Texas, at Grambling, at Kansas State) and three neutral site games (vs. Louisville, vs. Oregon, vs. Oklahoma State) in the Virgin Islands for the Paradise Jam (Nov. 28-30).
