Box Score MIAMI, Fla. – It came down to the wire for the final match in Miami, but the UT Arlington women's tennis team was unable to win the final point, falling to James Madison 4-3 Friday afternoon.
 
The Mavs were unable to capture the doubles point at the beginning of the match, setting themselves in an 0-1 hole. Carla Ponns and Momoka Horiguchi defeated Abby Amos and Daria Afanasyeva in the No. 1 competition 6-4, but UTA lost the other two doubles matches, giving the Dukes the win.
 
UTA performed admirably in singles competition, winning half of the matches.  Liz Chileno won the No. 5 singles competition in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2.  Lucia Natal and Nanaka Takeuchi both had to fight to win their matches, taking the deciding third set in both instances.  Natal won the No. 3 singles 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 and Takeuchi won No. 4 singles 6-2, 1-6, 7-5.
 
The Dukes were able to win the one, two and six spots to capture the match 4-3.

UTA will have eight days off before traveling to Mobile, Alabama to take on the South Alabama Cougars.
