ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington volleyball team split a pair of matches on the final day of the Maverick Classic at College Park Center on Saturday, Sept. 7. With the split, the Mavericks move to 4-2 on the season.
MATCH 1 | UTA 3 (4-1) vs. SOUTHERN 0 (0-6)
Bre Walp finished with a match-high 12 kills in the win over Southern. The sophomore also tied her career-high with a .429 hitting percentage.
Kylie Jedlicka registered 10 kills and seven digs.
Petra Manderson added eight kills and
Brooke Townsend chipped in with six kills and a .444 hitting percentage.
Kylee Kapp racked up a match-high 24 assists and
Jessica Stancliff added 12 assists, while
Madelyn St. Germain posted a match-high 12 digs.
The Mavericks hit .333 on the afternoon, while holding SU to a .000 hitting percentage in the match. UTA held the Jaguars to a negative hitting percentage in two of the three sets.
MATCH 2 | UTA 2 (4-2) vs. UNCG (5-1)
UNCG jumped out to a quick start against the Mavs, kicking off the first set with a 10-3 advantage before holding off UTA to win the opening frame 25-22. The Mavericks bounced back and held off a late Spartan comeback to take the second set 25-22 and even the match at 1-1.
UTA jumped all over UNCG in the third set, cruising to a 25-12 win. Townsend came up huge for the Mavs in the frame, racking up four kills and hitting .444.
The Spartans forced a fifth set with a come from behind 25-23 victory and held off the Mavs in the final set 15-13 to take the match.
Townsend,
Madison Hill and Jedlicka paced the Mavs offensively. Townsend recorded her second 20+ kill performance of the season with 20 kills. She also added nine digs on the night. Hill finished with 15 kills and 5 blocks and Jedlicka recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 17 digs.

The Mavs will head to Pullman, Wash. to participate in the Cougar Challenge at Washington State (Sept. 13-14). UTA will face Idaho State, Liberty and Washington State during the two-day event.
