LAS VEGAS, Nev. – In a game that resembled a Wild West Shootout, the UT Arlington women's basketball team went cold at the worst time as they were outscored 26-16 in the fourth quarter to fall to Kansas City, 85-76, on Sunday afternoon at the Cox Pavilion on the campus of UNLV.
Senior
Starr Jacobs put together another outstanding outing, finishing with 27 points and three steals, while senior

Hawkins came off the bench and buried a pair of triples and UTA shot a staggering 13 of 17 (.765) from the field. However, the 'Roos matched the Lady Mavs by going 9 of 12 (.750) from the field and knocking down five 3-pointers as UTA only held a 29-28 lead at the end of the quarter.
Kansas City opened the second quarter with a 10-0 run before Milton got rolling to help erase an eight-point deficit back down to three. Both teams cooled off significantly as they were both below 35 percent in the quarter, but Kansas City held on to a 44-43 lead at the break.
UTA began to find a handle on the defensive end in the third quarter as they regained the lead behind the paint play of Jacobs and Milton and held KC to 5 of 13 from the field while shooting 50 percent on their end. However, the three-ball and free throws kept Kansas City close as they went into the fourth trailing 60-59.
From there, Alnatas took over, knocking down back-to-back 3-pointers to open the fourth and the Lady Mavs could not keep pace from there. Kansas City, again, shot a staggering 9 of 12 (.750) from the field while UTA struggled to only go 4 of 15 (.267), including 0-for-7 from beyond the arc.
Kansas City rode the wave of momentum to their sixth straight win as their offense was simply too good on this day.

QUOTABLES
"First off I want to give credit to Kansas City. They shot the heck out of the ball and executed their game plan. I thought our kids battled. It's tough to play back-to-back games, but we just didn't get stops when we needed to. I'm still proud of this team and we are growing up every moment." -
