UTA Completes First Day Of Cardinal Challenge

BEAUMONT, Texas – The UT Arlington women's golf team wrapped up the opening day of Lamar's Cardinal Challenge on Monday from Beaumont Country Club as the Mavericks reside in 10th place following a 36-hole 648 total.
 
Kate Tran led the Mavs over the course of the two rounds as she resides in a tie for 27th place overall after rounds of 78 and 79.

  • Tran led the Mavs in the 1st round with three birdies. Murray paced UTA in the 2nd round with three birdies.
  • After 36 holes, Tran is tied for the 3rd-best par-3 scoring average in the field at 2.88 (-1).
  • Murray's five total birdies over the two rounds are tied for the 7th-most in the field, and her even-par average on par 5s is the best on the team.
  • Sam Houston leads the 11-team field with a 588 total through 36 holes – 21 shots clear of 2nd-place Southern Miss (609).
FINAL-ROUND TEE TIMES
All six Mavs will tee off in pairs of three from the 16th hole (A and B groups) at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Opened in February of 2019, the state-of-the-art Texas Rangers Golf Club is the new home of UTA's men's and women's golf programs. The world's only Major League Baseball-branded golf course, TRGC is the result of a $24 million renovation and updated routing of the former Chester W. Ditto Golf Course.
 
The Home of UTA Golf was designed by UTA alumni John Colligan and Trey Kemp of Arlington-based Colligan Golf Design. It features an expansive 23-acre practice area, and a new 33,871-square-foot clubhouse – which opened in March 2021 – will feature a full-service restaurant and bar, covered patio overlooking the golf course, pro shop, locker rooms and numerous rental and event spaces.
