Mavs Add San Diego State Transfer Nya Blair

ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington volleyball head coach J.T. Wenger has announced the addition of transfer Nya Blair, who is coming to Arlington after two seasons at San Diego State.

"We are really excited to add Nya to the UTA volleyball program," said Wenger. "Nya enters the program as a seasoned attacker willing to challenge the block and take big rips in tough situations to score points.  She has great offensive range and brings a diversified attack."

In her two seasons with the Aztecs, Blair played in 18 matches. During the 2020 campaign, she played in 13 matches for the Aztecs and finished third on the team with 92 kills. Her 2.14 kills per set were the second highest mark on the team.  Blair scored double-digit points on four occasions and scored a career-high 19.5 points against Boise State.

"I chose to come to UTA because of the culture of the program and the school has what I need to succeed academically," said Blair.

A Grand Prairie native, Blair returns to Texas where she merited all-state distinction from the Texas Association of Volleyball Coaches while playing at James Martin High School.  She was a two-time first team all-district selection while leading the Warriors to district championships in 2017 and 2018.  Academically, she received first-team all-district academic recognition on three occasions.
