SEATTLE, Wash. ---
Mollie Blank came off the bench to produce her second double-double of the season as the UT Arlington volleyball team (12-7, 4-3 WAC) swept Seattle University (4-10, 0-6) 25-20, 25-20, 25-19 on the road inside the Redhawk Center on Saturday.
The victory represented the second sweep of WAC play for the Mavericks, who will be back in action Thursday against Abilene Christian at 6 p.m. inside the College Park Center.
"Today's victory was a nice finish to the weekend," UT Arlington head coach
J.T. Wenger said. "We performed well in most aspects of the game and were efficient in scoring our own points at just under 20 per set. We also had a very balanced attack, and our defense was persistent and tenacious."
The win, which snapped a three-match losing streak for UTA, was achieved via a .294 team hitting percentage, which is the third highest in a match this year for the Mavericks behind South Florida on Sept. 9 (.402) and New Orleans on Sept. 16 (.337). Defensively, Seattle's 30 kills are the fewest allowed in a match all year by UTA.
Blank, who helped UTA improve to 4-1 on the road in conference play, tallied a team-high 20 assists, a match-high 14 digs and an ace for her second double-double of the season and the 18th of her career.
Sophie Skinner added 14 assists and four digs while
Alli Wells (10),
Brianna Ford (8),
Kortney Puckett (7) and
Alyssa Duran (7) added 32 digs combined. Duran also added four assists.
Puckett, who recorded a new career-high in digs, also matched her career-high in kills with 11 and aces (2) while producing match-bests in hitting percentage (.450) and blocks (6).
Briana Brown added eight kills, three blocks and two digs while
Devon Martinka got the start in her home state and tallied four kills.
Puckett and Brown also reached 100 career blocks, becoming the third and fourth Mavs to reach the milestone this year along with Ford and
Meredith Fisher.
Offensively, Ford led all players with 16 kills at a .379 clip along with her eight digs and four aces (one solo). It was her 14th match this year with double-digit kills.
Brooke Townsend had three kills to push her career total to 1,222, which puts her 24 shy of surpassing Fannie Burton (1,245, 1991-94) for 11th place on the program's all-time list. Meanwhile, Wells pushed her career dig total to 1,492, which puts her eight away from becoming the ninth player in program history with 1,500.
