ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington volleyball program has announced its four-match spring schedule.
The Mavericks will open the spring on February 25
th with a closed match against Texas in Austin. Only parents will be allowed.
UTA will then return to Arlington, hosting two matches. The Mavs will host DBU on March 2 at 6 p.m. before welcoming TWU a week later (March 9).
UTA will round out the spring traveling to Dallas to take on SMU on March 11.
The matches will feature an experimental "No Double Contact" rule. Per the NCAA, for upcoming spring matches only, teams will be allowed to experiment with a rule that eliminates double contact when the ball remains on the same side of the net it was played on (second contact). Rationale for experimenting with the rule is to see if it relieves pressure off the referees to make controversial double contact calls in critical moments of a match. The rules committee will seek feedback from officials and coaches who use the experimental rule.
