ARLINGTON, Texas – In an extra-inning battle, the UT Arlington softball team fell short 2-1 to Baylor Tuesday night at Allan Saxe Field.
The Mavs battled with the Bears throughout the night but ultimately fell in Baylor's favor. This marked the second time the programs have faced each other this season as the first meeting was back at UTA's home opener in February where the Mavericks defeated the Bears in a 12-3 run-rule victory.
UTA moves onto an overall record of 20-18 after heading into tonight's game on a four-game winning streak.

The Mavericks produced six hits Tuesday night against Baylor's Dariana Orme. Graduate student
Morgan Rios paced the Mavs' offense going 2-4 at the plate with UTA's lone RBI to her name.
Sophie Wideman (1-4),
Meagan Smith (1-4),
Amber Langston (1-4) and
Kaylee Cavazos (1-3) all came away with one hit apiece.
Lefty
Morgan Max got her third start on the mound this season for the Mavericks as she went on to throw 2.1 innings facing 11 Bears. The freshman tabbed three strike outs and allowed one run off two hits.
Fellow freshman
Jessica Adams came in for Max in the third inning where she pitched the remainder of the game. The 2-1 loss gave Adams her 12th loss of the season as she now sits on a record of 12-12.
PLAY BY PLAY: vs. Baylor (L, 2-1) 9 INNINGS
- The Mavericks jumped to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first after Rios knocked in Carreon with an RBI-single to right center.
- After a scoreless first and second inning, Baylor tied things up in the top of the fourth with a fielder's choice to shortstop.
- The contest went into extra innings as the Bears knocked a solo home run in the top of the ninth to take a 2-1 lead. Unfortunately, UTA couldn't answer back falling to Baylor.
ON DECK
UTA will look to secure its fourth Sun Belt Conference series as the squad will head to Troy, Alabama to face the Troy Trojans with the first of three games beginning Friday, Apr. 22 at 6 p.m.
