STILLWATER, Okla.– Despite strong showings from the Maverick pitching staff, the UT Arlington softball team suffered a 6-0 loss to No. 3 Oklahoma State Wednesday from Cowgirl Stadium.
With the midweek loss, UTA now sits on an overall record of 16-20.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: at #3 Oklahoma State (L, 6-0)
Paris Brienesse paced UTA's lineup going 2-3 at the plate with a pair of singles. Of the Mavs' four hits,
Marley Neises (1-3) and
Meagan Smith (1-1) were responsible for the other two.
Sophomore
Jessica Adams earned the start in the circle for UTA as she went on to toss 5.1 innings of work, allowing five earned runs off eight hits.
Junior
Gracie Bumpurs came in for Adams in the sixth inning and faced just two batters.
The Mavericks were unable to plate any across, giving Adams the loss.
PLAY BY PLAY: at #3 Oklahoma State (L, 6-0)
- The Cowgirls took a 1-0 lead in their first at-bats with an RBI-double to the left center gap from the bat of Kiley Naomi before a Maverick error allowed for OSU to plate one more, making it a 2-0 game.
- Adams kept the Cowgirls off the board from the second inning up until the sixth as an RBI-single to left field extended OSU's lead to 3-0. A three-run home run from Morgyn Wynne made it a 6-0 ball game heading into the seventh.
- The Mavericks were unable to get anything going in their last ups as UTA fell to the ranked Cowgirls, 6-0.
ON DECK
UTA will be back at Allan Saxe Field this weekend for a three-game conference series as the Mavericks will host the Wildcats of Abilene Christian beginning Friday, Apr. 14 through Saturday, Apr. 15.
