ARLINGTON - The UT Arlington volleyball team will host a preseason exhibition match against Dallas Baptist inside the College Park Center on Friday at 6 p.m.
The match won't be streamed or feature live stats, but admission is free and the first 300 fans through the door will get a UTA volleyball promotional schedule magnet.
The Mavs are coming off a 17-10 finish overall in 2022, including a 9-5 record in their first season back in the Western Athletic Conference since 2012. Senior outside hitter
Brianna Ford, who had a career-best year across the board last season en route to First Team All-WAC recognition, was named Preseason All-WAC on Thursday afternoon.
Ford enters this year with 815 kills, which puts her 185 shy of becoming the 19th player in program history to reach 1,000 in a career. Meanwhile, graduate senior
Alli Wells is currently sixth in program history for career digs, sitting 368 shy of becoming the second all-time Mav with 2,000. She needs 402 more to surpass Alicia Shaffer (2,033, 2008-11) for the top spot.
Following Friday's exhibition, UTA will open the regular season next Friday in Air Force Academy, Colo. against Bryant as part of the Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic hosted by Air Force. The team opens at home on Sept. 1-2.
