DALLAS – UT Arlington men's golf completed the second round at the Trinity Forest Invitational at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas on Monday, posting a 12-stroke improvement from Sunday's performance. Senior
Shoichiro Kato led the way for the Mavericks, shooting a three-under 69. The team finished the day with a total of 288.
"It was good to see Sho and Cam in red numbers today," head coach Logan Golding said following Monday's second round. "We challenged the guys to go out today and be more aggressive and they did just that."
Kato birdied on six occasions, doing so on Nos. 2, 5, 10, 14, 15 and 17, respectively. He also carded nine pars on the way to equaling his best single-round performance as a Maverick. Kato also recorded a second-round 69 last season at the Bentwater Intercollegiate on Feb. 12, 2024 in Montgomery, Texas.
Junior
Cameron Beck was also under par on Monday for the Mavs, shooting a one-under 71. The Mansfield, Texas, native finished with five birdies on the day, on Nos. 1, 2, 3, 14 and 16, while also shooting 10 pars.
