Wenger Announces 2025 Signing Class

ARLINGTON, TEXAS – Head Coach J.T. Wenger officially added to his 2025 recruiting class with a quintet of student athletes ranging from Alabama all the way to New Zealand. The class includes Andrea Nunez, Sophia Krichev, Eliana Collins, Laura Hernandez and Camryn McMinn.
 
"We are very excited for our upcoming class," said head coach J.T. Wenger, "I'm looking forward to this group of student-athletes continuing the tradition of UTA Volleyball through hard work and dedication. They bring a stellar arsenal of experience and athleticism to Arlington."
 
ABOUT THE RECRUITS
 
ANDREA NUNEZ
OH/MB, 5-11
Laredo, Texas/Alexander HS
 
Nunez, a native of Laredo, Texas, comes to the Mavericks Nunez after a strong campaign with the Lady Bulldogs. This past season, Nunez, the OH/MB hybrid, dominated as she recorded over 300 kills to help Alexander finish first in District 30-6A. Her performance earned her the District 30-6A Hitter of the Year, Laredo Morning Times All-City Hitter of the Year and KGNS Most Valuable Player. 
 
SOPHIA KRICHEV
MB, 6-3
Huntsville, Alabama/Huntsville HS
 
Sophia Krichev, a middle blocker from Huntsville, Alabama, has over 300 kills in her high school career. Additionally, she played for United Volleyball with the United 17 squad and helped lead the team to a 40-8 record over the summer.
 
ELIANA COLLINS
MB, 6-3
Christchurch, New Zealand
 
Collins, a New Zealand native that poses a force in the middle, was selected to play for the New Zealand U19 travel team over the summer and competed in the Australian Junior Volleyball Championships against U23 squads.
 
LAURA HERNANDEZ
MB, 6-1
Whitesboro, Texas/Callisburg HS
 
Hernandez, a middle blocker, comes to the Mavericks with over 600 kills behind a .405 kill percentage throughout her high school career. Aside from high school, Hernandez also played for Texas Advantage for the TAV 18 Blue team.
 
CAMRYN MCMINN
OH, 6-1
Pelham, Alabama/Pelham HS
 
McMinn, a native of Pelham, Alabama, put together 1,875 kills throughout her high school career and had an astonishing 797 kills in 151 sets played (5.28 kills per set). McMinn also recorded over 1,100 digs and 209 total blocks during her four years with the Pelham Panthers. Outside of high school, McMinn competed with the Alabama Performance Volleyball 17 National Club.
