MONROE, LA – The UT Arlington women's golf team completed day one of the two-day ULM Invitational as the Mavericks turned in rounds of 302-296 on Monday, Apr. 1 from Bayou DeSiard Country Club.
 
Currently, sophomore Madison Le sits in 2nd place overall after recording her ninth and tenth round of even-par or better on the season. The Mansfield product led the Mavericks' lineup with rounds of 70-69 as she is -3 for the tournament.
 
Across the five-player UTA lineup, Le led with six birdies across both rounds. The sophomore will look to secure her third top-5 finish of the 2023-24 season heading into Tuesday's final round.

INSIDE THE SCORES
Le

• The sophomore put up an opening-round 70, coming away with zero imperfections as she rolled a pair of birdies which came on holes 2 and 3.
• Le tabbed a 2nd-round 69 as the sophomore's card was nearly flawless, recording four birdies (2, 7, 10, 16) with her only hiccup of the round coming on hole 1.

Gabel

• The sophomore got her day started on 11A as she put up a round of 80. Gabel couldn't find any momentum as her round was highlighted by a pair of birdies – which came on holes 5 and 7.
• Gabel improved her score by eight shots as she went on to tab a 2nd-round 72. With only three bogeys coming on holes 1, 15 and 18, the Texas product recorded three birdies and 13 pars.

Choi

• The fifth year struggled in Monday's first round after logging a 1st-round 82. Choi's round featured three triples, five bogeys, nine pars and one birdie – which came on hole 5.
• After shaving seven shots off her opening-round, Choi came way with a 2nd-round 75. The returner's card was highlights by a pair of birdies which came on 3 and 9.

Gulhane

• Gulhane tabbed the second-best opening round among the Maverick lineup with a 1st-round 74. The freshman recorded three birdies on 2, 10 and 11 which went on to be the second-best of the Mavs – just one behind Le.
• The freshman's momentum slowed down after turning in a round of 80. Gulhane couldn't settle in after committing multiple bogeys. However, she was able to roll one birdie which came on hole 16.

Manikandesh

• Manikandesh turned in a round of 78 as her card consisted of eight bogeys, eight pars and two bogeys on 2 and 13.
• The sophomore couldn't find her groove in the second round of tournament play as she settled for a round of 80. Despite rolling 11 pars, several bogeys prevented her from gaining any momentum.

The Mavericks will round out ULM Invitational play with the final round of the two-day event beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start from Bayou DeSiard Country Club on Tuesday, Apr. 2.
